For my PIDP 3250 Digital Project I chose to do the Jigsaw Instructional Strategy. I chose Jigsaw because, while not my first choice, it is an activity I use that adds a lot of value in many ways.
Jigsaw requires collaboration. It also requires self study while researching. It involves peer teaching of the material learned to other students. Most importantly, it can change the energy in a class by letting the students be self-directed.
In Jigsaw, Students are divided into small groups where each member is assigned a specific topic to research. After some time to learn about the subject, students will reassemble into groups with the same topic. In these subject matter expert groups, the students will discuss their topic, share information, and decide on the tools required and teaching method to instruct their peers from the first group about their topic. The students then go back to their original groups and take turns teaching about their topic. The Youtube link for the video I posted explains the concept fully.
