It is interesting working through the Ethical Dilemma process that is described in assignment 4. While tasked to make a blog entry on some aspect of Ethics in Education, I came across a website named "unemployedprofessors.com" The pitch is that real, out of work professors are willing to write papers for money. Being unemployed, they are not beholden to any institutional policies or code of conduct. It seems far fetched, or perhaps a trap designed to lure lazy students and then report them to their schools. If it is not a joke, or a trap, then those involved are brazenly flaunting good ethical practices for financial gain. Perhaps it is a form of protest against the barren landscape of tenure track positions in some fields of study. Is there a Provincial or Federal code of conduct these instructors would be subject to in lieu of institutional policies? I do not know if there is in all jurisdictions. When I tried to look it up on the Ministry of Education website, there is very little information under post-secondary regarding individual responsibility.
I find it fascinating how widespread the purveyors of academic dishonesty seem to be online. Hopefully they are not successful in finding takers for their services.
